It was existing Director, Dr Lucie Sweet that first noticed Joe’s potential in the consultancy sector and it wasn’t long before Joe made himself an integral part of the B&G team. Fairly early on in his tenure Joe took on the delivery of the firm’s tree survey work – initially through a really steep learning curve but underpinned by a genuine passion for the subject. In recent years Joe has worked tirelessly in his evenings and weekends on further studies and qualifications and with that was recognised as a Chartered Forester in 2025.
Not only has Joe forged a great depth of technical knowledge but he has demonstrated that rare aptitude for consultancy more generally. Although the look on his face most days suggests a different tale, he has always thrived on the cut and thrust of a fast-paced industry and the juggling of pressure that results from it!
Joe’s remit now covers the oversight of both the arb and contracting divisions alongside input into the company’s technical advancement and marketing and business development strategies. Much like Ellen Marshall’s promotion to Associate Director last year, Joe’s promotion isn’t just recognition of a job well done – it’s needed to help the business continue to move forward in a way that aligns to its vision and core values.
In reality the task of running an organisation of B&G’s size needs accountability, experience and oversight and MD Neil Crofts and Director Dr Lucie Sweet welcome the promotion of both Joe and Ellen in helping us achieve future goals along with the continual support of the wider senior management team.
