Although afforded different levels of protection in the UK, the mitigation methods associated with both great crested newts and reptiles are often quite similar. In simple terms it involves surveying habitats to establish a presence and conduct enough survey work to inform the amount of effort needed to mitigate the impact depending on the numbers of animals found.
Our teams design mitigation and secure licences (where needed) and our dedicated in-house contracting teams implement the secured mitigation. They create offset habitats and install newt or reptile fencing in accordance with the licence awarded by Natural England or the mitigation strategy secured through planning.
