Assistant/Year Out Landscape Architect

We are a practice that specialises in the delivery of projects under the planning and development sectors.

Having maintained our position in the market well away from rail, infrastructure, highways and utilities, we sit at the forefront of supporting development projects in the residential, commercial, agricultural diversification, renewables, and special projects sectors across a range of scales and complexities.

We are currently seeking aspiring Landscape Architects and Planners to join our growing team, based at our office in Radbourne near Derby. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a vibrant, dynamic and fast paced business which is expanding.

Location: Derby
Salary: £25,000 – £27,000

Role overview

We are offering an excellent opportunity for an Assistant or Year Out Landscape Architect to develop their skills within a supportive and collaborative team, working across design, planning, and technical stages on a wide range of landscape projects.

The role will involve assisting with the preparation of deliverables, as well as supporting the team. The candidate would either come from a landscape architecture or related environmental background, or someone with an undergraduate degree who would like to convert into landscape architecture. You will gain hands-on experience across all stages of project delivery, learning how landscape schemes are developed from initial ideas through to construction on site.

You will be encouraged to build strong design, graphic and technical skills, while developing an understanding of planning processes, environmental considerations, and multidisciplinary coordination. The role offers structured support, mentoring and opportunities to progress towards professional qualification and chartership.

This position is ideal for a motivated and enthusiastic individual looking to grow their career within a practice that values learning, collaboration and high-quality landscape-led design.

  • Graphic support using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Learning technical delivery and site processes
  • Supporting senior team members across projects

Skills & experience

  • An undergraduate degree
  • Team player who is self-motivated, enthusiastic and proactive
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail
  • Keen to learn and takes responsibility of own professional growth
  • Ability to work to meet deadlines, managing the time available on multiple tasks and projects
  • Full, clean manual driving license
  • Interest in progressing towards chartership
